Overview

Extract transforms your transcripts into structured summaries and insights using AI-powered templates. Instead of reading through entire transcripts, get exactly the information you need in the format you want. How it works:
  1. Complete a transcription
  2. Select an extraction template
  3. AI analyzes your transcript and extracts relevant information
  4. Review structured output with source references

What is Extract?

Extract uses AI to analyze your transcripts and pull out specific information based on templates you choose. Each template defines what information to extract and how to format it. Example use cases:
  • Convert meeting recordings into action items and decisions
  • Extract key points from interviews
  • Generate summaries from lectures or podcasts
  • Pull insights from customer calls

How to Use Extract

Complete your transcription

First, transcribe your audio using Upload, Fetch, or Record.

Navigate to your transcript

Go to the Transcripts tab and select the transcript you want to extract information from.

Click Extract

Click the Extract button to open the template selector.

Choose a template

Select a template that matches your use case:
  • Executive Summary - High-level overview for leadership
  • Team Meeting - Action items, decisions, and next steps
  • Candidate Interview - Key qualifications and assessment
  • Lecture Notes - Main concepts and key takeaways
  • YouTube Summary - Video highlights and timestamps
  • Custom templates - Templates you’ve created
Or create a new template by navigating to the Templates tab.

Start extraction

Click Use Template to begin the extraction process. AI will analyze your transcript and extract relevant information.

Review your extract

Once complete, locate the file under the Extract tab. Click to expand and read the structured output.

Understanding Extract Results

Source References

Each line in your extract includes source references. This lets you verify information and dive deeper into context. To view sources:
  1. Hover over any line in the extract
  2. Click the document icon that appears
  3. Jump to the exact transcript line with timestamp
This makes it easy to:
  • Verify accuracy of extracted information
  • Get more context around key points
  • Quote exact words from the original audio
Source references ensure you can always trace back to what was actually said, maintaining accuracy and context.

Editing Transcripts Before Extraction

You can edit your transcript before extracting information using the Transcript Editor to:
  • Fix transcription errors
  • Add missing context
  • Remove irrelevant sections
  • Clarify ambiguous statements
To edit a transcript:
  1. Go to the Transcripts tab
  2. Select the specific transcript
  3. Click the Edit icon to open the Transcript Editor
  4. Make your changes
  5. Save the transcript
  6. Proceed with extraction
Editing transcripts can improve extraction quality, especially for technical content or when there are transcription errors.
